Privacy Policy
We built Utilia to be useful without being intrusive. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, why, and what rights you have over it.
Last updated: · Effective:
TL;DR Summary
- · We collect no personal information — no emails, no accounts, no names.
- · We use anonymous analytics (Vercel) to understand which tools people use.
- · All tool calculations run entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to our servers.
- · We use zero advertising or marketing cookies.
1.Data Controller
The data controller responsible for your personal data is Utilia, the operator of utilia.ink.
For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable privacy laws, Utilia determines the purposes and means of processing any personal data collected through this website.
Entity: Utilia
Website: https://utilia.ink
Contact: privacy@utilia.ink
2.Data We Collect
We deliberately collect as little data as possible. Here is a complete and transparent list of everything we collect or store:
2.1 Automatically Collected (Anonymous)
- –Page views: Which pages were visited. No personal identifiers attached.
- –Referrer: The URL of the page that linked to us (e.g. Google, social media).
- –Country: Derived from IP address at the network edge. IP address itself is not stored.
- –Device type: Mobile, tablet, or desktop.
- –Browser: Browser name and major version only.
2.2 Stored in Your Browser (Never Sent to Us)
- –Theme preference: localStorage key that remembers your dark/light mode choice.
- –Cookie consent choice: localStorage key that records whether you accepted or declined analytics.
Important
Tool inputs (amounts, heights, weights, currency values) are processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. This data is never transmitted to any server. We cannot see, log, or access anything you type into our tools.
3.Legal Basis for Processing
Under Article 6 of the GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:
Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f))
We have a legitimate interest in understanding how our free tools are used so we can improve them. This is processed via anonymous, aggregated analytics that cannot identify individual users.
Consent (Art. 6(1)(a))
Where you have explicitly accepted analytics cookies via our cookie banner, we process analytics data based on your consent. You may withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser storage or adjusting your cookie preferences.
5.Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the site. Each has its own privacy policy.
Anonymized page view data, country-level location, browser type.
Our server requests rate data. No user data is included in these requests.
6.Data Retention
We retain data only for as long as necessary:
7.International Data Transfers
Vercel operates globally and may process anonymized analytics data on servers located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States.
Vercel participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and uses Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission as the lawful transfer mechanism for data transferred from the EEA to the U.S. See Vercel's privacy policy for details.
Since we do not collect personal data ourselves, no personal data is transferred by Utilia directly.
8.Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the GDPR:
Right of Access
Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to Rectification
Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
Right to Erasure
Ask us to delete your personal data (the 'right to be forgotten').
Right to Restriction
Request that we limit the processing of your data in certain circumstances.
Right to Portability
Receive a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Right to Object
Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Withdraw Consent
Withdraw analytics consent at any time without affecting prior lawfulness.
Lodge a Complaint
File a complaint with your national data protection supervisory authority.
Since we collect almost no personal data, most rights are trivially satisfied — there is simply no personal data to access, correct, or delete. To exercise any right, contact us at privacy@utilia.ink.
EU residents may also contact their national supervisory authority. A full list is available at the European Data Protection Board ↗.
9.Children's Privacy
Utilia is a general-purpose utility tool suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or under 16 in EU jurisdictions where the higher threshold applies). Since we do not collect personal data from anyone, this policy is satisfied by design.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@utilia.ink and we will address your concern promptly.
10.Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Changes that materially affect how we handle personal data will be communicated via a prominent notice on our website.
Continued use of Utilia after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. If you disagree with any changes, please discontinue using the service.
11.Contact Us
For any privacy-related questions, requests to exercise your rights, or concerns about how we handle your data, please contact us:
We aim to respond to all privacy requests within 30 days, as required by GDPR Article 12.
